Easy Appetizers for a Halloween Cocktail Party

Halloween is the perfect holiday, you get to get dressed up as someone completely different and eat!  So if you are going to eat why not dress up your food as well.  There is an unlimited amount of ideas to make your food fit the theme of your Halloween party.  I tried out a few I found on Pinterest for my Halloween Cocktail Party in a Box.

 Pumpkin Veggie Platter

Halloween Veggie Platter from LKD eventsIngredients

  • 1 head of cauliflower
  • 2 yellow bell peppers
  • small bag of baby carrots
  • small pumpkin
  • veggie dip (flavor of your choice)
  • small plastic cup (to fit inside your pumpkin)

Cut the top off the pumpkin and remove the insides.  Carefully shave down the pumpkin to fit the plastic cup inside the pumpkin, a little at time until the cup fits in the hole without falling through.   Cut the cauliflower and bell peppers to your desired size.  Arrange veggies on a platter and fill the cup with veggie dip.

Pumpkin Clementines

These pumpkin clementines are not only super cute but super easy!  All you need is some peeled  clementines and a celery stock cut up into itty bitty pieces.

I think these are pretty self explanatory but see the full instructions at One Little Project.  I used a tooth pick to get some of the tops of the clementines open for a celery piece.

Cheese Witch’s Broomsticks

Cheese Witch's Broomsticks by LKD events

I love these broomstick not only are they cute but they taste great too!  The cheese, pretzel and chive combo is really good.  The original idea is from Coinando Con Catman.

Instead of cheese slices, I used string cheese.  One broom used a third of a cheese stick. To make the bristles, I sliced the cheese in thirds about 2/3rds of the way up and then turned 1/4 turn and repeated.  Before sticking in the pretzel rod, I used a toothpick to start the hole.  I found just sticking a pretzel into a cold cheese stick broke the cheese stick apart.  Also tying on the chive I found was a delicate process, it tends to break before you can knot it off.  I found soaking them in water for a few minutes helped to soften them a little. Having a few extra chives around, won’t hurt.

These may not come out absolutely perfect, just look closely at mine.  But it doesn’t matter they will be cute and tasty no matter what!

Some ideas that took no prep at all!
